This May be a Book
In the editorial project I created this book, the content of which was generated and sorted with the help of machine learning systems. All the images come from the Andreas Züst Library and serve as a concentrate of an enormous collection of around 10'400 books. All the students in my class conducted an interview with an English-speaking person on the subject of reading. In this project, I did not only focus on the layout. Programming with Python was just as important. My script had to give each picture in the book an Ai-generated caption. This sometimes worked very well, but there were also some less suitable results. The book contains a mixture of different formats and papers, which are meant to reflect the diversity of the library. The binding of the individual book blocks turned out to be very challenging, as each book block has a different format. “This May be a Book” is a humorous and entertaining book that I am proud of as a content creator, art director, writer, designer, programmer and bookbinder.
